Curaçao is the largest of the ABC islands in the southern Leeward Antilles, a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands located approximately 65 kilometres north of the Venezuelan coast. Like Aruba and Bonaire, Curaçao is part of the Cretaceous Caribbean Large Igneous Province — an ancient oceanic plateau of basaltic and gabbroic rocks — rather than the active volcanic arc of the Lesser Antilles. The island sits near the diffuse boundary zone between the Caribbean Plate and the South American Plate, a region of transpressional deformation expressed as fold-and-thrust belts and strike-slip fault systems along the northern coast of Venezuela. The Oca-Ancón Fault system to the south, and broader fault zones of the Venezuelan fold belt, represent the primary seismic sources relevant to Curaçao. Seismic hazard is considered low to moderate — significantly lower than the Lesser Antilles volcanic arc but higher than tectonically inert regions, owing to proximity to active Venezuelan faults.

Curaçao's earthquake history reflects its position as a passive observer of Venezuelan tectonic activity rather than a generator of local events. The 29 July 1967 Caracas earthquake (magnitude 6.5) killed 266 people in the Venezuelan capital and was felt throughout Curaçao and the other ABC islands. The 1900 earthquake off the western Venezuelan coast — estimated at magnitude 7.6 — caused significant damage in La Guaira and was strongly felt in the Dutch islands. The El Pilar Fault system running along the northern Venezuelan coast and the Caribbean coast has generated multiple M6–7 events over the past two centuries, each registering as a felt event in Curaçao. The 1812 Caracas earthquake (estimated magnitude 7.9), which killed tens of thousands during a Holy Thursday church service, was certainly felt across the southern Caribbean including Curaçao. In the modern era, Venezuelan seismic networks record M3–4 events near the Dutch islands periodically.

Curaçao's bedrock geology consists of Cretaceous oceanic basalts and related intrusive rocks of the Caribbean plateau, overlain by Oligocene to Pliocene marine limestones, reef carbonates, and Quaternary coral limestone terraces. The island is tectonically stable relative to the active volcanic arc — it has not experienced significant fault displacement or volcanism in its recent geological history. The flat coastal terraces and shallow carbonate platform create moderate [[seismic-wave]] amplification on soft sedimentary soils. [[tsunami]] exposure from distant Caribbean events is possible but low. Seismic monitoring around Curaçao is provided by the Venezuelan network (FUNVISIS) and the KNMI-coordinated Netherlands Antilles monitoring system. The island's relatively modern building stock and flat terrain reduce structural collapse and secondary landslide hazards.

Curaçao has a low level of seismic activity. Large earthquakes are infrequent but not impossible. A total of 0 earthquakes have been recorded in Curaçao's seismic history.

Curaçao has had 0 recorded earthquakes. This count includes events of all magnitudes detected by seismic monitoring networks. The actual number of earthquakes may be higher, as smaller events can go undetected.

Curaçao is classified in the "Low" seismic zone, located in North America. Seismic zones indicate the relative level of earthquake hazard based on historical activity, geological conditions, and proximity to tectonic plate boundaries.
