The QuakeFYI Live Earthquake Map displays real-time seismic activity worldwide, powered by USGS data that updates every 30 seconds. Visualize earthquake locations, magnitudes, and depths on an interactive map with tectonic plate boundary overlays. Filter by magnitude (2.5+, 4.5+, 6+) and time range (1 hour to 7 days) to focus on the earthquakes that matter most to you.
الميزات
Real-Time Data
Earthquake data from USGS refreshes automatically every 30 seconds, showing the latest seismic events as they are detected.
Magnitude Filter
Filter earthquakes by minimum magnitude — view all events, or focus on significant (4.5+) and major (6+) earthquakes only.
Plate Boundaries
Toggle tectonic plate boundary overlays to see how earthquake locations correlate with plate edges and subduction zones.
Smart Clustering
Nearby earthquakes are automatically grouped into clusters at lower zoom levels. Zoom in to see individual events.
Navigate the map
Click and drag to pan. Use the scroll wheel or +/- buttons to zoom in and out.
Filter by magnitude
Click the magnitude buttons (All, 2.5+, 4.5+, 6+) in the top-left panel to filter which earthquakes are shown.
Change time range
Select 1h, 6h, 24h, or 7d to adjust how far back in time the map displays.
View earthquake details
Click any earthquake marker to see its magnitude, location, depth, and timestamp in a popup.
Show plate boundaries
Check 'Plate boundaries' to overlay tectonic plate edges and understand seismic patterns.
الأسئلة الشائعة
The map auto-refreshes every 30 seconds using the USGS real-time earthquake feed. New earthquakes typically appear within 5-10 minutes of detection by seismograph networks.
By default, earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 and above are displayed. Use the magnitude filter buttons to show all events or focus on larger earthquakes (4.5+ or 6+).
Circle colors represent magnitude: gray (<3), blue (3), yellow (4), orange (5), red (6), and purple (7+). Larger circles indicate stronger earthquakes.
Yes — check the 'Plate boundaries' checkbox in the control panel. Major plate boundaries appear as solid red lines, minor boundaries as dashed orange lines.
The map uses marker clustering to keep the display readable. Clusters show the number of earthquakes in an area. Click a cluster or zoom in to see individual events.
Use the time range buttons to view earthquakes from the last 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours, or 7 days. The default view shows the last 24 hours.
